Regarding these positions, the director of Prosperity Digital points out that “The hard skills that professionals in the digital field have make the search for candidates more complicated, especially since many of the studies in these areas have been created relatively recently and that creates a talent gap in the labor market”.

Specialist positions are paid the same or better than management positions

According to the Prosperity Digital Salary Guide 2022, the great demand for specialized profiles has a direct impact on the increase in the remuneration offered in this type of position. In fact, the director of Prosperity Digital acknowledges that “The technical and training specifications required by digital jobs are translating into a generic rise in wages within the industry. Consequently, specialist roles, on many occasions, shuffle a higher salary range than that given in management positions”. However, the study points out that “Being a relatively new sector, there is a disparity in wages due to the lack of consolidation in the market”.

In another order, according to data from the study carried out by the company specialized in attracting digital talent, professionals in the digital sector hired from Barcelona or Madrid They earn 30% more than workers in the rest of Spain.

Telecommuting, an essential condition

The remote work It is an increasingly common modality in the workplace. In this sense, there are professions that have an easier time adapting to this format, such as, for example, all the professions related to the technological and digital field. Undoubtedly, these professionals have demonstrated their ability to provide remote services and this translates into a high penetration of teleworking.

Currently only 23% of professionals in the digital sector work exclusively in person. Almost double, 40%, work completely remotely and 37% do it in a hybrid way.

In relation to this reality, Gary Mullan, CEO of Prosperity Digital, affirms that “The pandemic has increased the demand for telecommuting among digital profiles and, currently, it is almost impossible for a professional in these areas to accept a position in which the format is 100% face-to-face.”
