The Batman: a Penguin spin-off series is also coming

Matt Reeves’ new Gotham Crusader movie, The Batman, is getting another spin-off series which, this time around, will focus on the villain known by the name of Penguin.

The series will be made for HBO Max and will be executive produced by Dylan Clark And Matt Reeves with DC Entertainment And Warner Bros. Television.

On HBO Max the spin-off series of The Batman about Penguin

The series is described as a “Scarface-like” show, which will chronicle the rise of the Penguin character. Otherwise known as Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, the Penguin “He’s an elegant mafia boss and one of Batman’s main antagonists.”

Colin Farrell will play Penguin in The Batman, but we don’t know if Farrell will reprise his role in the series as well (a bit like the various Marvel actors did for the series that landed on Disney +). In the film, The Penguin isn’t Gotham City’s biggest crime boss yet, and it’s therefore easy to assume that this series will tell the story of how he managed to rise to power.

This isn’t the first Batman spin-off series announced by Warner Bros. Another upcoming series we know will focus on the Gotham City Police Department. “It will build on the anatomy of corruption in Gotham City, launching a new universe of Batman across multiple platforms. The series will extend the world told in the film and further explore the myriad of complex characters that are part of Gotham. “

The series will focus on the corruption of the city that “dates back many years”, and is told from the point of view of a corrupt cop.

Obviously, in order to see the new series we will have to wait for the release date of The Batman, now set for March 4, 2022.
