The Book of Boba Fett: Robert Rodriguez will direct some episodes

After directing a couple of episodes of the series Disney +, The Mandalorian, independent film icon Robert Rodriguez will return to direct the episodes of the next spin-off Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett.

The actor Temuera Morrison, who played Jango Fett in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and who will star in the next production, broke the news during a conversation with Rotten Tomatoes, where he expressed his enthusiasm for the idea of working with the director of Once Upon a Time in Mexico and Sin City. He also alluded to some other “wonderful directors”, although he didn’t officially name them.

The Book of Boba Fett: Robert Rodriguez will be one of the directors who will sit behind the camera in the new Star Wars spin-off

Earlier this week, news came that the production may have finished principal photography. Rodriguez, who directed The Mandalorian’s Chapter 14: The Tragedy, reintroducing Boba Fett in the Star Wars universe, he is the executive producer of the show along with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.

“They hired Robert to direct others,” Morrison told Rotten Tomatoes. “There are some wonderful directors involved. It is hard work what we do now, a completely new system, with COVID in place and all the rules on health and safety ”.

Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett takes place during the same era as The Mandalorian, about five years after the fall of the Empire in Return of the Jedi. Rumors close to production say that filming is complete and that the new show will look like “season 2.5” of The Mandalorian.

The show will also reportedly feature surprise appearances from other Mandalorian characters. Despite all this, Favreau was clear in specifying that this will still be a standalone production, separate from the third season of The Mandalorian.

Morrison, in addition to the presence behind the camera of Robert Rodriguez, also confirmed that The Book of Boba Fett would have filled in some of the missing years of Boba Fett’s life by commenting with these words:

Well, we can’t say too much, but we will see his past and where he has been after the events of The Empire Strikes Back. Someone pointed out that he got stuck in this place, and now it’s time to go back in time and take a look at his journey and find out more about him.

Now we just have to wait for the production to be officially distributed, which is scheduled for December this year.
