the Box 8X with a speed of up to 8Gbit/s!

SFR has just unveiled its new Box 8X, a modem produced by Altice Labs, and designed to meet the growing use of the Internet by French households with a speed of up to 8Gbit/s!

The SFR Box 8X becomes the ideal ally to meet the new needs of households (teleworking, gaming, transfer of large files, streaming, etc.). It thus becomes one of the most efficient boxes by offering a connection 4 times faster than the previous generation, which can reach 8Gbit/s thanks to XGS-PON fiber technology. This increase in connection quality will thus improve daily use, such as video streaming in 4K HDR with Dolby Vision.

In addition, it offers the possibility of adding a very high speed Ethernet connection via an SFP module (supplied on customer request) and of reaching 8Gbit/s dedicated for any equipment equipped with a compatible LAN port. . On a PC, this requires having a built-in 10G port or an expansion card or Thunderbolt 3 to 10G Ethernet adapter and one of these interfaces: PCI-E x4, Thunderbolt 3, or USB-C. On a Mac, this requires having a purchased configuration with a 10G Ethernet port or a Thunderbolt 3 to 10G Ethernet adapter.

This Box also has Smart WiFi which allows optimal coverage by reducing interference or saturation using WiFi 6 repeaters to extend coverage and signal quality throughout the home. Note also the presence of 4 Ethernet ports on the back of it.

SFR’s Box 8X is available today for fiber customers, offering a speed of up to 8Gbit/s for download and up to 1 Gbit/s for upload, at a price of €34/month for 12 months then 50 €/month (12 month commitment).
