One of the most anticipated releases of 2020 has been delayed again. Dune, by Denis Villeneuve, was scheduled to hit theaters and HBO Max on October 1, however, it seems that Warner Bros has needed some extra time, since it has decided to move it to the next day 22 of the same month. Nothing serious, but it will surely annoy the most fans.
Dune’s second delay
As they count in Variety, the premiere of Dune has been moved 3 weeks later, since everything is part of a restructuring of more premieres that the company manages. And is that The Many Saints of Newark, the prequel to The Sopranos, will go on to premiere on October 1 instead of September 24, thus occupying the position that belonged to Dune until now.
This earthquake of premieres has also pushed Cry Male, the next film by Clint Eastwood, but with the opposite effect, since, instead of being released on October 22, it will hit the big screen on September 17, thus anticipating no less than a month.
In this way, the calendar was free October 22, date that they have definitely decided to leave Dune to premiere both in theaters and on HBO Max.
A movie with a spectacular cast
It should be remembered that the original date for the premiere of Dune was set for December 18, 2020, however, the situation of the global pandemic forced the production company to move the premiere to 2021. The cast of Dune is made up of stars from the likes of Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem, so there will be practically no scene where we don’t recognize someone.
Based on the work of Frank Hebert, in Dune we will move to Arrakis, a planet rich in melange matter, a drug that allows interplanetary flight and for which the Great Houses (planetary manors controlled by noble families) face to have the greatest material control. Dune will have two movies, with the first covering about half of the original book. This is his synopsis:
Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant young man who was born with a destiny much greater than himself, and must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. While evil forces start a conflict in which they face one of the most exclusive resources on the planet (capable of unlocking the full potential of the human being) and in which only those who conquer their own fear will be able to survive.
