Lionsgate announced that, in collaboration with Millennium Media, will produce The Mercenaries 4, the fourth installment of the The Expandables.
A new chapter in the Expendables saga, The Expendables 4, has been announced
Not without too many surprises, the film will bring several familiar faces back into the cast, they include Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture And Sylvester Stallone, who will reprise all their roles, respectively of Lee Christmas, Gunner Jensen, Toll Road and Barney Ross, but will focus above all on the figure of Statham (and therefore no longer on that of Stallone).
Furthermore, we already know that they will join Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox And Tony Jaa, who said they are ready to play the new characters that will be introduced in the franchise.
Jason Constantine, president of acquisitions and co-productions for the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said in a statement attached to the announcement of the new film:
“We are thrilled to be partnering with our friends at Millennium Media on the next episode of The Expendables franchise. It’s so much fun to bring these stars together for a no-holds-barred action movie. The new film will raise the stakes and be the biggest and toughest adventure ever. “
Jeffrey Greenstein, president of Millennium Media, added:
“The Mercenaries are back and we couldn’t be more excited to bring this star-studded, action-packed film to the big screen with Lionsgate, which has been with us since the beginning of this franchise. To keep it fresh and fun, we’ve added exciting new stars who will join the veterans; popcorn entertainment is guaranteed. “
Production on the film will start next year and we know it will be directed by Scott Waugh (Act of Valor, Need For Speed, Snafu) based on a script written by Spenser Cohen and revised by Max Adams and John Joseph Connolly.
