The Global Mobile Awards accompany the MWC by rewarding certain products. The first folding smartphone stands out.
The MWC 2022 has just closed its doors and the return of a “real” show is to be welcomed; despite the situation in Europe. The party was not as complete as during the Roaring Twenties, but we were able to discover many new things. Oppo had not even waited for the mobility show to present its Find X5 Series. However, one of the stars of this edition of Mobile World Congress is the Oppo Find N. The brand’s first folding smartphone is among the winners of the Gloal Mobile Awards. These trophies are awarded on the sidelines of the Barcelona event.
This folding smartphone, which we took in hand at the beginning of the year, stands out in the “Disruptive Device Innovation” category for its integration of the hinge and the screen. When we discovered the device, we highlighted the presence of this free-position hinge and highlighted the efforts of the manufacturer. The fold is almost non-existent and is one of the strengths of this smartphone first launched in China.
The category in which the Find N stands out salutes “hardware and software innovation in smartphones”. “Whether it’s chips, processors, cameras, displays or other innovative technologies that improve the user experience and enhance the capabilities of smartphones, according to analysts , leading independent journalists and influencers”, says the official MWC website. In this area, Oppo’s folding smartphone competed with Apple Airtags, the Fairphone 4, the Google Tensor chip and Samsung’s Galaxy Z line.
To its advantage, the Find N should unfortunately not land in France. Oppo currently prefers its Find X5 range which includes an impressive Find X5 Pro. To discover a folding smartphone from the Chinese brand in our region, it will probably be necessary to wait for its successor.
The best smartphone is hit with an apple
Among other awards, the iPhone 13 Pro Max won the “Best Smartphone” award at the Global Mobile Awards. Apple’s smartphone is distinguished by, in particular, “his performance” and “its innovation”. It competed with the Google Pixel 6 Pro and three high-end smartphones from Samsung (S21 Ultra, Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3).
