The future of the UCM after Doctor Strange 2: what awaits us?

without any doubt the continuation of Doctor Strange has hit theaters stomping and it is not for less, because it has opened an infinite range of possibilities for the next installments within the MCU, thanks to the concepts that it explores about the multiverse and some other characters that it simply presents. Also, after the events of the multiverse of madness, the wizard himself may have become the most powerful and capable hero in history… with the permission of Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel.

old acquaintances return home

First of all, say that let’s reveal some spoilers, so if you don’t want to find out what happens in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we recommend you don’t follow. If not, we go there.

X-Men characters

The film has introduced some characters that made the fans get up from their seats and start clapping like crazy in the cinema. Specifically We talk about Professor X and Mr. Fantastic. The appearance of the two characters almost automatically adds two other well-known groups of essential superheroes for many within the Marvel scene: on the one hand the X-Men and on the other the Fantastic 4. The next step in phase 4 would obviously be Marvel Studios announcing a mutant movie to quench our thirst for Gen X.

raids everywhere

But clearly the concept that can give the most play for the future of the UCM is that of raids. As explained to us in the Doctor Strange movie itselfone of these events involves the collision of two Earths in the Multiverse and they have the advantage that each of them can produce infinite results, so they could become an inexhaustible source of paradoxes between superheroes of any dimension.

To simplify it we will use an example given in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Had the Scarlet Witch of Universe 616 succeeded in snatching another Wanda Maximoff (from a different Universe) from her sons Billy and Tommy, she would have caused a raid that It would have ended the MCU as we know it.

Moreover, there are also clues that we have already been told from Marvel thanks to the series of Loki: long time ago there was a multiversal war in which the Earths began to annihilate each other and it was for that reason that there should be a figure that would stop this war and take care that it would not happen again, separating the different realities. This figure was He who remains, one of the few benevolent versions of the villainous Kang the Conqueror. However, this variant was killed by Sylvie (a Loki from another reality) at the end of the first season, thus causing the universes to spiral out of control and begin to intertwine with each other, ergo, causing the events of What If…?, Spider-Man No Way Home Y Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The intention that Marvel Studios seems to have is for the multiverse to get so out of hand that another war between universes finally breaks out, which in the comics was known as Secret Wars, in which we may see heroes from different universes united. According to various insider reports, lto next movie The Avengers I would treat this event, And apparently a release date is not that far away. Also, as we saw in the first post-credits scene of Dr Strange 2, It seems that our favorite magician is going to have a relevant role in that raid.

For now, the next movie that seems to be dealing with the multiverse will be Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumaniasince the main villain of the film will be Kang himself the Conqueror, a character who is characterized by navigating the multiverse as if it were América Chávez.
