The Galaxy S22 is more fragile than the Galaxy S21. According to a video drop test, the glass back of the smartphone is more sensitive to falls than a plastic structure. In the end, it’s better not to drop one of Samsung’s smartphones without protection.
The Galaxy S22s have just arrived in stores. To test thea durability of devicesAllstate Protection Plans, an American insurance company, conducted a series of drop tests of Samsung’s latest flagships.
First, it was the standard Galaxy S22 that passed through the hands of the experts. After falling screen down against “a rough sidewalk” 1.8m, the smartphone escaped with serious damage. The screen is scanned many cracks. Pieces of the glass protection have also come off the structure.
The Galaxy S22 are very sensitive to falls
After the first fall, screen down, the S22+ suffers from more severe damage. The angles are very damaged, the screen is cracked and the glass has broken up. Following a similar drop test, the Galaxy S22 Ultra ends up the same as the standard S22.
The standard S22 was then dropped rear-side down. Again, it is the glass that covers the smartphone that is damaged. However, the camera is intact. With its glass back, the S22 is more sensitive to falls than its predecessor, the Galaxy S21, whose back was made of plastic. Same story on the side of the S22 + and the S22 Ultra. Despite the loss of many pieces of glass, the camera remains fully functional.

For the record, this is not the first drop test to point fingers the fragility of the latest Samsung smartphones. A few days ago, a test carried out by a YouTuber had already demonstrated the fragility of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The high-end smartphone had completed the test completely out of service. As Allstate notes, the curved edges help accentuate the phone’s fragility.
