This is the ultimate destination for My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke fans. The amusement park dedicated to the world of Studio Ghibli films will indeed open on November 1, 2022.
Finally ! After several years of waiting and an opening date constantly postponed, the Ghibli amusement park will finally open its doors on November 1, 2022, when it was to welcome its first visitors in 2020. But the pandemic has passed by there and delayed the inauguration of the premises, to the chagrin of the many fans of the animation studio’s productions.
Wander through the worlds of Ghibli films
The park, located not far from Nagoya, includes five areas dedicated to the different worlds of the studio’s films. There will be a bit of everything for everyone, lovers of Howl’s Moving Castle, from Spirited Away or even of If you listen will be happy to be able to walk around in sets reminiscent of their favorite productions. The park will also offer them restaurants, a walk, and of course a cinema!

On the other hand, we will go our way if we are looking for thrills, the rides with a high thrill content will not be part of the adventure. Despite everything, it will be a real pleasure to stroll between sets inspired by the creations of Hayao Miyazaki. The park, two parts of which will not open until spring 2023, will cover an area of 200 hectares, between the houses of Mei and Satsuki, the heroes of My Neighbor Totoro.
The two parts of the park which will not be open to the public are devoted to the worlds of Princess Mononoke, as well as movies Kiki’s Delivery Service and the Howl’s Moving Castle (an area called “the Valley of the Witches”). The Ghibli Park is financed by the studio as well as by the Chunichi Shimbun, the daily newspaper of Aichi Prefecture.
