After months of noticing the increase in the number of fake vaccine passes in circulation, the government has decided to act and is finally starting to ban them en masse. Since February 17, 2022, the authorities’ crusade against these false documents has moved up a gear.
In December 2021, we mentioned in our columns the number of fake vaccine passes in circulation in France: more than 110,000. This figure has not stopped increasing since, despite the risk of being fined €1,000. from the first offence. At the end of the year, the Minister of the Interior took stock of the situation, assuring that 182,000 false vaccine passes had been spotted by the police and the gendarmerie so far.
This number is then increased to 300,000, if we are to believe a survey published by Health Insurance and the results of which were shared by the Minister of Health Olivier Véran. To remove these false passes from circulation, there are no 36 solutions: spot them, then blacklist them of TousAntiCovid in order to deactivate the QR Codes in question.

The government takes action against fake vaccine passes
While on February 16, only 4,739 documents made up the TousAntiCovid “Blacklist”, this figure skyrocketed the next day to reach 30,000 fake passes listed and deactivated. Data that also corresponds to the promise made by Olivier Véran on the antenna of BFM TV on February 2. Indeed, the politician had then guaranteed that this blacklist would accommodate 30,000 additional false passes.
Since February 17, this list grows regularly in waves of 10,000 passes. As of February 21, developer David Libeau counted 74,631 blacklisted passes. Either way, it was time for the government to take action. It must be said until February 16, this list had not exceeded the 5000 registered false vaccine passes. In other words, there were still tens of thousands of false documents to be withdrawn from circulation. As a reminder, advertisements for fake health passes have also invaded social networks since the end of 2021. Unfortunately, for Meta (and other social networks) and the authorities, it is very complicated to limit their distribution as much as possible.
