A new Honor smartphone is coming to French stores in May 2022. It’s the Honor X8, an affordable model that wants to offer a complete experience at a low price, like Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 11. Offered at 259 euros excluding promotion, it features an energy-efficient platform, several photo sensors, a large battery and a very fine design. Presentations.
Only a month ago, Honor launched the X8 in China, a smartphone stuck between entry and mid-range, a natural opponent of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note range. A few weeks later, here it is already arriving in France, starting the brand’s offensive on 2022. Indeed, if the former subsidiary of Huawei presented only one model in France, the Honor 50, this obviously will not be the case in 2022, since the Magic4 series, formalized at Mobile World Congress, should follow in the spring.

While waiting to taste the Magic4, the Honor X8 serves as an appetizer. And this appetizer is not uninteresting. It’s a large smartphone, but the design remains quite thin, since the X8 only measures 7.5mm thick (while the Redmi Note 11 exceed 8 mm). It is also quite thin, since it weighs only 177 grams. Its screen measures 6.7 inches, which will be very comfortable for watching videos. The definition is Full HD+ for a resolution of 391 pixels per inch. Please note, the slab is LCD. But its refresh rate is 90 Hz.
Honor X8: an energy-efficient platform for good autonomy
Under the screen, we find the Snapdragon 680 from Qualcomm. This is a 4G SoC only. But that’s not really a problem: 5G isn’t available everywhere and it’s still quite expensive. In addition, 4G is more than enough for all uses, even excessive streaming. It is accompanied by 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. This platform spins Magic UI 4.2 based, unfortunately, on Android 11 only. This is the same version integrated into the Honor 50. It obviously has Google services.
In the X8, we also find a battery of 4000mAh. It should last around two days of standard use, with Honor promising 13 hours of video streaming. It is compatible 22.5 watt fast charge, for a full recharge which should be around 90 minutes (a priori). According to Honor, 10 minutes of charging gives 3 hours of video autonomy. On the photo side, we find four sensors at the back (main sensor 64MP5 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, 2 MP macro and distance calculation sensors) and a 16 MP selfie sensor placed in a punch. A fingerprint reader is present on the edge.
The Honor X8 will be available on May 3, 2022 at 259 euros
The Honor X8 experience therefore seems quite complete, even if some concessions have obviously been made to lower the price. The latter stands at 259 euros, excluding promotions. Note that the smartphone benefits from an offer including a free shell and a reduction of 20 euros (the X8 then returning to 239 euros). It will be available from May 3, 2022 on the Honor site, as well as a dozen brands, including Fnac / Darty, Boulanger, Magasin U, Auchan, Leclerc, Cdiscount, Amazon and LDLC.
