The hospital of the future will have the technology of startups

According to a study by Barcelona Health Hub, at times of the pandemic when the waves of infection were highest and the restrictions were most severe, more than 8 out of 10 consultations were carried out remotely. Telemedicine is not only a new concept, but the preamble to a more complex paradigm shift within healthcare, where traditional face-to-face care It is complemented by the one carried out remotely, both personally and automatically.

Futurs, the technological division of the Ribera healthcare group, has been working for some time on the development of the remote hospital, a revolutionary concept of clinical assistance and medical follow-up that, thanks to the intensive use of various computer technologies, will allow offer personalized services to each patient from a non-invasive point of view. As Pablo González, Managing Director of Futures, explains, this approach allows “apply those resources that make the most sense based on the needs of each type of patient. The idea is to segment these specific cases to help the user to have immediate access to medical assistance”.

The remote hospital in which Futurs works incorporates the use of devices connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) with which to measure different vital signs of the patient, wherever he is. The data is stored in your own electronic medical record, Cynara Care. Developed by Futurs and implemented in the hospitals of the Ribera health group, it has different modules that allow “unite the entire care process”, explains Mireia Ladios, Head of Quality at Ribera and Product Manager at Futurs. Thanks to this, it is possible to know the quality of life of patients regarding a disease before the doctor sees it in his office. “Knowing in advance, not only what has happened in the hospital, but also what happens in our patients’ homes is essential because it adds value to the entire care process, which is what we are dedicated to”, Ladios sentence.

In addition, in many of the projects already implemented, these measurements are analyzed in real time by Artificial Intelligence algorithms capable of detecting anomalies and notifying a doctor so that they can review them and, where appropriate, prescribe treatment or request additional tests.

Tools to build the healthcare of tomorrow

With the citizen in mind, Futurs developed a Cynara Care module to incorporate different functionalities. Cynara Citizen, also known as Ihealth, allows access to medical care without having to go to a consultation, clinic or hospital. With YOsalud, patients have the possibility of chat with your GP, who can prescribe medication without moving from their place of origin. In addition, it collects all the patient’s medical reports and tests, and even allows you to consult exercises recorded on video by professionals from the Ribera health group.

Likewise, the ecosystem created by Futurs integrates proprietary and co-innovation solutions with startups developed by specialists in various health areas. This is the case of Minds, Ribera’s online psychological therapy, Lola’s virtual caregiver, nutrition advice, telerehabilitation, digital dermatological consultations or patient telemonitoring services, among others. Integrations that demonstrate the potential of Cynara Care, a versatile platform, capable of expanding its capacity hand in hand with other companies that can offer high quality services and added value for their patients.

At Futurs we provide the ability to generate perfectly customized solutions to the realities that exist in hospitals, what we call the ‘living lab’. We have direct contact with the professionals who are in the day-to-day in the hospital and we are able to transfer their needs to the reality of the solutions through the product development teams”, explains Francisco Aznar, Software Development Manager at Futurs. In short, we are working today to achieve the healthcare of tomorrow, based on telemedicine. The goal is to create that Connected Hospital of the Futuresmart, proactive and remote.

A new reality in health care that places the patient at the center and covers their needs through technological solutions from various sources, but brought together in the same device that is always available to the user, wherever they are.

In the words of Pablo González during his speech at Forbes Talks dedicated to the digitization of the health system, the application of technology to medical care achieves a triple result: “On the one hand, greater efficiency is achieved that makes a more rational consumption of our resources, both in relation to our users and our professionals. On the other hand, it allows achieving optimized results, especially in terms of quality of care. And, finally, almost immediate accessibility to patients is ensured and, what is more important, they are empowered, offering them the necessary tools so that they feel that their health needs are being attended to.yes”.
