The iMac Pro will use an M1 Max SoC with an improved CPU

There’s no doubt that the new iMac Pro is going to be one of Apple’s biggest releases. This team could brand new a totally new designwith an all-screen finish and a touch of color similar to what we saw in the 2021 iMac series, although it is important to note that, in the end, the available colors should be more discreet than those of that series.

In addition to this profound change at the design level, which the truth seems to us to be totally necessary, the new iMac Pro will have a significant update at the hardware level. In this sense, new information suggests that this generation will use the Apple M1 Max SoC, but with an upgraded CPU to offer higher performance.

As our regular readers will remember, the Apple M1 Max SoC comes with a 10-core CPU, which is divided into a configuration of 8 high-performance cores and 2 high-efficiency cores. Well, the CPU of the chip that will mount the new generation iMac Pro would have a total of 12 cores which, in theory, would be divided into 10 high-performance cores and 2 high-efficiency cores.

This information is very interesting, but at the same time it raises doubts, since Apple could only get an M1 Max chip with a 12-core CPU. using a new design, unless the CPU that mounts the original version of the M1 Max already comes with a 12-core CPU, but has two disabled. We don’t have an official answer on this question, so right now we can only wait to see what Apple does.

If all goes according to plan, the new iMac Pro 2022 will be presented at the end of this year. It is expected to come equipped with a 27-inch mini-LED display and support for ProMotion technology. The rest of its specifications are unknown at the moment, but we will most likely see generous RAM configurations and high-performance SSD storage.

Before finishing, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the new Mac Pro has also been the subject of numerous rumours, and that according to the most recent information, this new professional computer will have a total of four interconnected Apple M1 Max chips to offer up to 40 CPU cores. It is not confirmed, but it is true that for Apple it would be the easiest way to scale CPU and GPU performance.
