The Intel Arc A580 beats the Radeon RX 7600, being cheaper!

Intel has recently launched itself into the manufacturing of graphics cards, although at the moment they are far from competing for the high-end. At the moment, its solutions seem to worry AMD’s entry and mid-range, not so much NVIDIA. Now we know that the Intel Arc A580which would be launched shortly, offers better performance that AMD RX 7600.

It is not Intel’s first attempt to enter the graphics card market, but it is the first with “success.” Larrabee was a monumental failure that ended up destined for acceleration with very little success.

To design a graphical architecture from scratch, they hired Raja Koduri, who was the father of the Vega architecture and laid the foundations of RDNA. Indeed, Koduri worked for many years at AMD and moved to its competition. Currently he no longer works at Intel, he has gone to work with his friend Jim Keller in a company that produces RISC-V chips for AI.

This is how the new Intel Arc A580 performs

Last August the first data on the company’s new graphics card was leaked. It wasn’t anything shocking, it was pretty general data. Now, thanks to Geekbench We have the first performance tests that provide quite interesting data.

The Intel Arc A580 shows a punctuation that is for on of the Radeon RX 7600 and RTX 3050. This is something very interesting, since it would be a very economical entry-level graphics card.

According to leaked data, this Intel Arc A580 has 24 cores, 384 Execution Units and 2072 Stream Processors. The graphics card works at a base frequency of 1,700 MHz and can reach Boost mode to the 2,400 MHz. This graphics card has 8GB memory GDDR6 with a 256-bit memory bus and a bandwidth of 512 GB/s.

Intel Arc A580 benchmark

Geekbench shows this graphics card gets something more than 88,000 points in the test with OpenCL at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. Improvement performance a 6% with regard the previous benchmark leaked in August. This performance improvement could have to do with the drivers, which have evolved a lot in two months.

Get this Arc A580 some 5,000 more points in the same test as AMD RX 7600, something very remarkable. Furthermore, it falls short further of 1,000 points of the RTX 3060, the star on Steam. These are very good data for such a simple graphics card.

Intel also compares its Arc A580 with the RX 6600 and RTX 3050. The company leaves out the RX 7600, which is compared in a slide with the Arc A770.

Intel Arc A580 comparison

How much will this graphics card cost?

It has not been presented by Intel, so the data is based on leaks. Japanese retailer Bic Camera has listed the ASRock Challenger Arc A580 OC for 38,800 yen, which is about 245 euros in exchange.

Currently, we can find the AMD RX 7600 and NVIDIA RTX 3060 for over 300 euros. On the other hand, the RTX 3050 start from 250 euros onwards, depending on the model and characteristics.

Keep in mind that the price of the new Intel graphics card is leaked and from a Japanese retailer. Then we must take into account taxes and other additions, so it would not be unusual for its price to end up approaching 300 euros.
