the last DLC finally gives its news!

CD Projekt has just communicated about the next DLC of The Witcher 3, and predicted a release for this year.

A few months ago, CD Projekt announced big plans for its two star games: Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. If the first should soon have its next-gen versions as well as its first expansion, the second game has been rather discreet when it comes to new features. We knew that the next-gen update should arrive just after the update for Cyberpunk 2077, during the first half of 2022.

Today, CD Projekt looks back on the third and final DLC of The Witcher 3, which has almost just given itself a release date. As a reminder, it was to be inspired by the successful Netflix series, itself inspired by the novels of Andrzej Sapkowski. At the moment we don’t know if this will be more cosmetically or narratively. However, we learn that it should be available during the second quarter of 2022.

From this, we can therefore imagine that the DLC as well as the next-gen version could be released at the same time, via the full edition teased last summer. No details regarding the content of this edition, or its price, have been released for the moment and CD Projekt keeps a big mystery around its hit game.

A success partly due to the series?

Yes The Witcher 3 was already a bestseller when it was released in 2015, the title has grown in popularity since the series debuted on Netflix, starring Henry Cavill in the title role. This was confirmed at the release of season 2, on December 17. As with the first season, the number of players increased drastically just after the series aired.

And for good reason, this second burst of episodes was more or less centered around the plot of the game, which is one of the most awarded titles of recent years. Only a few days after the start of the broadcast, The Witcher 3 has therefore offered a peak of up to 70,000 players simultaneously, the highest point for almost two years. There is no doubt that the popularity of the license is guaranteed for a few more years.

And that’s good because season 3 of the series is already in the plans of Netflix, which also produces a spin-off series called The Witcher Blood Origin. In other words, the franchise started in 1986 with the first books still has a bright future ahead.
