2022 ended on a good note for all fans of The Last of Us. On December 14, the leaker ViewerAnon, generally rather confined to the cinema, dropped a small bomb on his Twitter account: Naugthy Dog would have started development from The Last of Us Part III. Like he usually does, the studio preferred to remain silent rather than leaking information by mistake. It is therefore with extreme caution that Neil Druckmann, vice-president of Naughty Dog and co-creator of The Last of Us, has formulated his wishes for the new year. After thanking his subscribers for their “incredible support” he added that “a lot of great things are going to happen next year”.

But Neil Druckmann does not stop there. In conclusion, this one also calls on its subscribers to be cautious. “Pay attention to information coming from “insiders”. Many of them are false,” he declares. While no direct reference to The Last of Us Part III is made, hard not to see a connection with the recent leakthis one being still the only one to date concerning the game.

Is Naughty Dog trying to drown the fish? On the one hand, a sequel to The Last of Us Part II seems almost inevitable, as the saga has become a pillar of video games (not to mention the studio’s particular attraction for sequels). The other, the year 2023 already seems busy for the latter, with the imminent arrival of the HBO series, the remake of the first opus available on Steam in March, as well as the multiplayer title launch. For now, patience is key.
