That’s it: the very first season of The Lord of the Rings series, the Rings of Power, has come to an end. This crystallized many hopes and offered us many speculations before leaving us. What is the release date for season 2?
We don’t have yet no official release date for season 2 Rings of Power. Most predictions agree that this one should be released in 2024, potentially at the end of the year. The most optimistic are counting on the end of the year 2023.
Where is the Rings of Power season 2?
The production of the first season had suffered many disappointments, in particular because of the global pandemic that has more than delayed it. That’s why The Rings of Power took such a long time to arrive on Prime Video. However, we have some good news for Season 2!
The cast and production are already back filming since the beginning of October. The Rings of Power showrunners said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that it’s progressing well, and will almost certainly be over much faster than season 1.
At the same time, know that the latter have indicated that they are aware of the problems of season 1 and fan feedbackand have already promised to correct these during season 2. It is particularly on the rhythm of the episodes of the Rings of Power that the latter have planned improvements.

Regarding newcomers, we already know that Prime Video has planned to integrate into the cast the character of Círdan. However, the casting has not been done yet.
What will be the story in season 2?
Círdan, precisely, let’s talk about it. He is one of the oldest and wisest elves, who is known to be the founder of the Gray Havens from where the boats leave for the eternal lands of the elves. He is also one of the ring-bearing elves of his race, and more precisely narya.
Círdan is important since he is also one of the most notable elves in the great battle of the end of the Second Age, which you may have seen in the introduction to Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films. Obviously therefore, he should have a very important role in the series, although it is difficult to imagine where he will be located.
Fortunately, we don’t need to imagine the showrunners’ plans, since they have already teased them in an interview for Esquire. For example, we are not yet going to have the right to a smiling and jovial Galadriel, since the latter should sink into darkness after being tricked by Sauron/Halbrand.
She could, however, be joined by a character we only heard about in a short dialogue: Celeborn. It is not said that it will appear from season 2, but the writers have every intention of using it in order to restore Galadriel to the love of her life.
The most interesting thing is to know what will now be Sauron’s plan. We saw him at the end of the season returning to the brand new Mordor, where Adar prepared for him an orc-optimized skies. The showrunners promise here that while Season 1 has put together all the pieces of Galadriel, this Season 2 will be dedicated to the machinations of the dark lord. It must be said that for the moment, we only have the three rings of the Elves. There are still the seven rings of the Dwarves, the nine rings of Men and of course… the One Ring.
Is there a trailer for The Rings of Power S2?
If each episode of season 1 had the right to a small teaser for the following episode, the last episode only gave no trailer for season 2. This one is after all still filming.
However, we can expect a first teaser to appear quite soon after the end of filming for season 2. The middle or end of 2023 will most certainly be the time when we will discover the first images of the sequel. Rings of Power.
