During San Diego Comic-Con, the company unveiled the latest look at The Rings of Power, a new series for Prime Video that takes place thousands of years before the events of Lord of the Rings, during the “Second Age.” of the history of Middle-earth.
The very big and very expensive adaptation of Lord of the Rings by Amazon is entitled to a new trailer, only a few days after a long teaser of almost 2 minutes and 30 seconds which revealed more about the plot, but especially about the queen of Galadriel elves, played by Morfydd Clark.
The trailer opens on a grieving Galadriel on a scorched battlefield. She thought she was done with the war, that ” our joys would never end,” she says, but she can sense the presence of evil. So the Rings of Power trailer shows the return of evil, ” the dreaded moment “, whereas the whispers of Sauron float through Middle-earth.
Sauron will once again be the big bad in this adaptation
The rise of Sauron, the would-be Lord of the Rings, is near. We finally hear a character pronounce his cursed name and we see an evil being with long, razor-sharp fingernails which terrifies the other characters. “Find the light, and the shadow will never find you,” said a voice to Galadriel. In the VO, it is not about light, but about a “boy”, who could be the only one to defeat Sauron.
Galadriel’s story in the series could therefore focus on his journey through Middle-earth to find this boy named Theowhich, at one point in the trailer, wields a broken, self-reforging black sword. For their part, the dwarves are still living in Moria before it fell, the elves are recovering from a long war that has just ended, the humans starting a new and powerful civilization, and the hobbits hiding under it all. .
Right at the end of the trailer, fans of the series even got to hear the growls of a creature, a balrog. As a reminder, this is one of the fiery terrors that the spectators were able to discover in The Fellowship of the Ring.
