The MacBook Pro with SoC M2 Pro and M2 Max will arrive at the end of the year

The launch of the 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air 2022 with Apple M2 SoC is already a reality, but we still have the presentation of the new high-performance equipment for professionals pending based on M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. I am referring to the generational renewal of the 14-inch and 16-inch models that are currently available with the M1 Pro and M1 Max SoCs.

Although we still do not have an official confirmed launch date, the most recent leaks assume that Apple will present its new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max SoCs later this year. maybe the apple company take advantage of the event dedicated to the presentation of the iPhone 14 to present these new teams, but it is not confirmed, so right now all the doors are open.

We do not expect changes at the design level in the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro 2022, and I do not think we will see important developments in the internal distribution of components or in the cooling systems, so these computers will be practically identical to the current generation models. The most important novelty will be, therefore, the jump to a new SoC, without further ado.

The source of this information also drops that although the presentation of these new devices will take place at the end of this year, probably in September, it is impossible to determine when they will actually be available, especially since it seems that Apple continues to have problems with the supply chain, which would result in a shortage of certain components that could affect actual availability of the 2022 MacBook Pro 14 and 16 inches.

Regarding the specifications of the M2 Pro and M2 Max SoCs, we don’t have official details yet, but seeing what Apple did with the current generation we can expect the same approach, that is, both should be a minor evolution of the M2, which means that the former would keep the ten core configuration at the CPU level, although we cannot rule out the jump to a 12-core processor. For its part, the M2 Max SoC should also have a 10 or 12 core CPU, but its GPU will be more powerful than that of the Apple M2 Pro.
