The Minecraft Squid Game clouded by DDoS attacks on Andorra

For a couple of weeks we have seen the great mobilization of streamers from the Hispanic-Latino community, with different series and game shows in which hundreds of them are coming together to create unique content. Events like the most recent recreation of Netflix’s Squid Game, in Minecraft.

Unfortunately, the sheer amount of attention this kind of congregation of streamers and influencers generates has led to some unwanted stares. And it is that during the last days Andorra Telecom, the only ISP in the Principality of Andorra, was the target of repeated Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, causing players hosted in this country, as well as the server used to host the event, to suffer constant connection losses.

Although this is not a localized attack on streamers, rather the whole of Andorra had little or no internet connection for more than half an hour after the start of these DDoS attacks.

Thus, despite including two of the three main organizers of the event, auronplay, elRubius and Komanche made the final decision to disqualify the nearly 10 active Andorran streamers, eliminated from the Twitch tournament after the second day of attacks due to their repeated disconnections. In fact, some of them shared in their networks the desire that, With this measure, the attacks ceased.

And it is that there is a great suspicion that the perpetrators planned these DDoS attacks against Andorra Telecom exclusively to frustrate the participation of Andorran streamers in the event, since the winner and last survivor will have the opportunity to win a jackpot of no less than 100,000 dollars (more than 88,000 euros).

Apparently free from seizures now, The Squid Game to be continue during this week, every evening from 8:00 p.m. (Spanish time) until the remaining streamers are eliminated.
