While Sony is quietly surfing the next-gen console market thanks to the excellent sales of the PS5, the Japanese firm has just given players an appointment this May 24, 2023 for a new PlayStation Showcase.

According to the manufacturer, this event will be the ideal opportunity to discover future PS5 and PS VR2 games “in development at top studios around the world.” Thus, according to Sony, we should have the right to a preview of several new creations from PlayStation Studios, “as well as enchanting games from our external partners and independent creators”.

Finally some Spider-Man 2 with this PlayStation Showcase?

This conference will last an hour, and kick-off is set for 10 p.m. on YouTube and Twitch next Wednesday so. On our side, we hope to finally see some Spider-Man 2 gameplay, the highly anticipated sequel to the adventures of Peter Parker and Miles Morales (still made by Insomniac Games). We should also have the right to a final taste of Final Fantasy XVI, which should land on PS5 from June 22, 2023. However, things are uncertain for FF XVI, since the title has already had the right to a State of Play dedicated this April 13, 2023.

According to Sony, this presentation will also make it possible to discover future titles compatible with the PS VR2. Good news, especially since the virtual reality headset of the PS5 has encountered serious difficulties since its launch, the fault of its high price of course (600 €, i.e. 50 € more expensive than the PS5), but also to a rather limited line-up.

Anyway, Sony has decided to give priority to Microsoft with this new PlayStation Showcase. And yes, remember that the Redmond firm has planned a new Xbox Game Showcase this June 11, this time centered around Starfield, Bethesda’s next space RPG. Suffice to say that the manufacturer is expected at the turn, especially after the recent setbacks around the release of Redfall.
