The NVIDIA Shield TV hides a way to find the remote if you lose it. So you can activate it

How to locate your lost NVIDIA Shield TV remote

NVIDIA ShieldTV Pro

For a start, the remote has a location function which, when activated, begins to play an audible melody. Keep in mind that, at the moment you activate this function, the sound will be activated for 10 seconds.

As explained in the NVIDIA support websitethere are several ways to activate the remote control locator on your Shield TV. If you have an NVIDIA Shield TV, the Pro model does not, there is a locator button above the HDMI port on the media player.

The moment you press that button, the NVIDIA Shield TV remote will start beeping for 10 seconds. Although there is a more comfortable option that does not require you to get up. More than anything because, all you need is to download an application available for both iOS devices and Android terminals.

The app is S.H.I.E.L.D. TVIt is completely free and very easy to configure. Once you’ve downloaded it, you’ll see that it has a good number of options, so if you have this multimedia player, don’t hesitate to try it out.

Once you have installed the Shield TV application and made the basic configuration, all you have to do is enter the app, click on the option more options (you have to click on the three points located at the top right) and click on Search my command.

You can also use your Google Home or an Amazon Echo

Lastly, note that you can also use your voice assistant to find the remote control. In this way, both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa will allow you to activate this function by means of a command.

Use Google Assistant

  • Now, on your Google device, say “Ok Google, start the SHIELD remote locator” and you will see that the remote automatically starts to sound.

Use Alexa

  • For Alexa, your SHIELD device must be paired with the voice assistant, either through the app or using your Echo speakers.
  • On your Echo device, say “Alexa, ask SHIELD to find my controller”

Please note that there are several reasons why this feature may not work. Apart from the obvious reasons, such as the system not being configured with these voice assistants, if the battery of the remote control is at critical levels, it will not sound.
