The objectives of the Catalan Farside Ventures: promote 100 companies in four years

Farside Ventures is a venture builder, specialized in deep tech oriented base solutions, which plans to promote a hundred startups, in early stages or pre-series A, in four years. With the aspiration of positioning itself as a paradigmatic model at a European level, Farside calculates that the value of the shares of its startups will range between €75M and €100M in 2026.

The company, founded in 2020 by entrepreneurs Rafael García-Escarré, Marc Borrell, Jordi Priu, Oriol Relats and Guillermo Briones, seeks to operate in the market as an agile and effective instrument to develop disruptive technology initiatives in sectors such as genetics, artificial intelligence, metaverse, blockchain, sustainability and 5G.

For this, the venture builder has specific verticals. The first verticals are 101 Ventures, 5G Ventures Builder, The Data Venture, Fintech Ventures and Sustainability Ventures, which already have a total of 16 startups in their portfolio, including Neutroon, Frontwave Imaging, Wolorent, RAND Network, Be-in-g and The Sampling Solutions. Since its creation, Farside has received financing of €20.5M to promote the project and the growth of its investees.

Rafael García-Escarré, co-founder and CEO of Farside Ventures, has stated that “The advanced entrepreneurial ecosystem of which Farside wants to be a reference, focuses its area of specialization exclusively on entrepreneurial initiatives that exploit deep tech use cases in mature industries.”

The Farside concept in English means ‘distant but visible’. This is an analogy that the venture builder seeks to transfer to the technology of its promoted initiatives, since its business models are based on advanced technologies that do not give up their applicability in the short or medium term, despite their futuristic characteristics.

In this line, Farside plans to end this year with 20 recently created companies according to its business plan, with which it hopes to reach a portfolio of between 30 and 35 companies in 2023. In parallel, the company is finalizing the launch of a fund of specific investment, with a total capacity of €20M, to finance its investee portfolio.

Farside’s value proposition also relies on the experience and knowledge of its founders, prominent entrepreneurs and business angels with a proven track record in business creation in the technology sector and uncertain environments. The company has a team of nine people, a figure that rises to nearly 100 employees if the professionals of the investee companies are included.
