OnePlus launched its OnePlus 10 Pro in China last month, a new high-end smartphone that directly succeeds the OnePlus 9 Pro of 2021. The latter runs in China under OPPO’s ColorOS 12 overlay, OnePlus having recently merged with the giant . The French version of the smartphone should still enjoy OnePlus’ custom OS: OxygenOS 12.

Indeed, according to information from leaker Yogesh Brar, the new unified OS of OnePlus and OPPO which was announced last September would have been late, which means that it would not be released on this generation of smartphone. However, OPPO and OnePlus would hope to use this new overlay on their OnePlus 10 in 2022.

Towards a March release for the OnePlus 10 Pro

Still according to leaker Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh on Twitter), OnePlus plans to unveil its device at the end of March in Europe. Apart from the change in overlay compared to the Chinese version, the French OnePlus 10 Pro should be same as current model. In addition, good news, OnePlus may see its price drop compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro of 2021, since the smartphone has also been marketed cheaper in China.

For now, it’s unclear when OnePlus and OPPO plan to unveil their new unified overlay. As a reminder, the two Chinese manufacturers have begun to merge the source code of ColorOS 12 and OxygenOS 12 to allow users to enjoy the best features of both overlays.

A few days ago, another leaker, Mukul Sharma, discovered that this unified OS could well be called H2O OS. This obviously reminds us of the old name of the OxygenOS overlay in China, which was called HydrogenOS. Unlike its competitors, OnePlus therefore seems to want to give a real lesson in chemistry to its users.
