The Orbital Children shows itself with a new trailer

The Orbital Children (Chikyūgai Shōnen Shōjo / Extra-Terrestrial Boys & Girls), the first original anime of Mitsuo Iso – former director of Dennō Coil (2007) – i is shown with the official trailer.

Along with the promotional video, which also revealed the theme song “Oarana” sung by the virtual rapper Harusaruhi, the key visual of the film signed by the character designer was also published Kenichi Yoshida.

The sci-fi anime will be screened in Japanese cinemas in two parts: the first will debut on January 28, 2022, while the second will arrive on February 11.

Simultaneously with the release of the first part in Japanese cinemas, Netflix will make the feature film available worldwide as a series consisting of 6 episodes.

Plot of the anime

The story of The Orbital Children begins in the year 2045, when artificial intelligence is very advanced and anyone can travel in space.

The protagonists of the anime are a group of kids who, following an accident, get stuck in a Japanese space station “Anshin” where they were carrying out a guided tour.

Children, some born on Earth and others from the Moon, will have to manage to survive using so advanced but extremely limited technological resources such as slow-speed internet networks, social networks and drones equipped with basic AI controlled via smartphones.

Details and technical cast of The Orbital Children

As reported by ANN Mituso Iso, who had announced the anime during the convention Anime Central of 2018, he is credited as the author of the original work, director and screenwriter. Kenichi Yoshida (Eureka Seven, Gundam: Reconguista in G, Overman King Gainer) is taking care of the character design of the characters while Toshiyuki Inoue he is the main animator of the project. Yusuke Ikeda is the artistic director, Miho Tanaka is the color key manager, Rei Ishizuka is composing the music while Youji Shimizu is the director of sound.

The animations will be made by Production + h, a studio specially created for this project which will be produced by Avex Pictures and ASMIK Ace.
