The price of SSDs is going to drop considerably

A study by the market analysis firm TrendForce indicates that the price of NAND Flash memory is going to experience a significant drop, due to the drop in demand and the high level of stock that the main manufacturers of SSD units have, which are the most important clients in that market.

If their forecasts are confirmed, there will be a “break” point that will sink prices by up to 35%, which means that SSD drives will be much cheaperalthough it is always important to keep in mind that this does not mean what percentage is going to be deducted directly from the price of the SSD, since it does not work like that.

The 35% drop will affect the price of NAND Flash memory contracts, and this will have a clear impact on the price of SSDs, which will obviously go down, but in a proportion lower than that 35%since in the end SSDs also use other components that go beyond NAND Flash memory, and that together determine manufacturing costs.

The situation could worsen at the end of this year if demand does not recover, and everything seems to indicate that this will not be the case, so this it will certainly be a good time to buy SSD drives. These types of storage solutions offer important advantages that we have already detailed in articles like this one, where we talk about performance, the reduction of loading times and the liberation that forgetting about fragmentation means.

It is important that you remember that the fastest and most powerful SSDs are those that use the PCIe Gen4 standard, and that these typically connect via an M.2 port. If your computer only has SATA III connectors, you should look for a model in 2.5-inch format.
