The price of the Radeon RX 7900 XT and 7900 XTX may be higher than expected, we see why

During the official presentation event, AMD itself confirmed the price of the Radeon RX 7900 XT and 7900 XTX, 899 and 999 dollars, respectively. This was good news, because it supposed that the giant of Sunnyvale I was going to stay in the same price range that we saw with the Radeon RX 6900 XT, and because with this it breaks the trend that we have seen in the graphics sector of shooting up the sale price with each new generation.

Unfortunately, information is beginning to emerge indicating that the price of the Radeon RX 7900 XT and Radeon RX 7900 XTX could be larger than expectedand that this would be due to an important component shortage which would stay for a minimum of two to three weeks after the release of both graphics cards.

The information makes sense, especially since this new generation of graphics cards requires a total of seven chips to manufacture its GPU, six to house the infinite cache and one for the graphics core itself. It is commented that the price increase could be between 20% and 30%, although some retailers have already opened pre-purchases at exorbitant prices that far exceed those values.

Radeon RX 7900 XT price

The situation should improve in January 2023, although in the end everything It will also depend on demand and the reality of the market.. It is very easy to understand, if the demand is high the price of the Radeon RX 7900 XT and 7900 XTX will continue to be high even if the stock improves, and if the demand is low the opposite could happen, that is, the price should drop even even if the stock level is not good.

We must also take into account that although we have gotten rid of the problem of cryptocurrency mining, thanks to Ethereum’s jump to a model without the possibility of mining, the truth is that we are still suffering the consequences of speculation and resale, and that this could also affect the price of the Radeon RX 7900 XT and 7900 XTX, especially if availability is low and interest is high.

Still, the prices you’re seeing at some retailers that already offer the pre-order option are somewhere between $1,500 and $1,700, and they don’t make any sense, especially since they get to a level where they almost stepped on the GeForce RTX 4090, and the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is much slower in ray tracing. I remind you that the launch of the new generation of AMD graphics will take place at the end of this same month of December.
