With the arrival of the GeForce RTX 4070, there has once again been a drop in the price of some AMD Radeon RX 6000. As you may have imagined, this launch has mainly affected the models that shape the high-end range within said series, that is, the Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6950 XT.
Inside the Radeon RX 6000 series the Radeon RX 6800 XT positions itself at a performance level similar to that of the GeForce RTX 3080which means that, in terms of raw power, it also plays in the league of the GeForce RTX 4070, always talking about rasterization.
However, if we make a joint assessment of performance and consumption, the GeForce RTX 4070 is superior, because it is more efficient, performs better with ray tracing and supports DLSS 3 and frame generation. The Radeon RX 6800 XT has its advantages too, offering stronger performance in some rasterized games, especially 4K, and boasting more graphics memory.
With all this in mind, it is not surprising that the price of the Radeon RX 6800 XT has dropped to 609.99 euros. It is a very competitive price, since it costs 60 euros less than the GeForce RTX 4070and the model that is available at that price is assembled by Sapphire, a well-known and quite reliable firm.
More interesting is the offer of the Radeon RX 6950XT, which is still a real beast even in 4K under rasterization, and which can be purchased from 789.89 euros in its version with a reference design, which is one of the most beautiful and best finished that exists. For that money we get a graphics card that performs about the same level as a GeForce RTX 3090 in rasterization.
In my last look at the most important online stores in Spain I have been able to confirm that the stock of the GeForce RTX 30 it is going down noticeably. There are no longer units of the GeForce RTX 3080, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and higher in some stores, and in others the availability of these is very low, so much so that the prices have been inflated again.
If our goal is to be play under rasterization and we are not worried about ray tracing, the Radeon RX 6000 are undoubtedly a good optionbecause they offer very good performance in that scenario, and compete head-to-head with the GeForce RTX 30. So that you have one more reference, think that this Radeon RX 6950 XT performs, in 4K and under rasterization, almost at the same level as the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti.
