The reason why you shouldn’t close apps on iOS

The problem of closing iPhone applications

In the same way that Android seems more efficient than Apple in aspects such as eliminating the cache of the apps, in the opposite case we see that the iPhone apps have to be completely uninstalled to carry out this task. However, the same does not happen with the consumption carried out by the applications and, although it may surprise you, closing iPhone apps generates more consumption.

The explanation for this is found in the way the operating system manages its resources. When an app is not used, but it is kept open in the background, it reduces its consumption in such a way that it is not subtracting excessive RAM memory, but just enough so that when it is opened again all the content is loaded instantly. However, when they are completely closed, all their activity is paused (although some processes may remain in the background), so when you open it again you have to reload all content, this being what generates the highest consumption.

It should also be borne in mind that opening the apps once they have been closed can cause information loading is slower. Therefore, you should also take it into account if you want navigation with your iPhone to be as fluid as possible without having to wait for loading times, even if these are of a few seconds.

So what should you do with them?

There are those who have certain manias of closing all applications to keep the iPhone “cleaner” (server raises its hand), but objectively it is not the most ideal. It is true that at the end of both forms battery and resources are consumed, although it is not in an alarming way in any case, but it is also true that consumption is higher when it has to be charged again.

This is why the recommendation comes that you do not close them, although you should not be excessively blunt either On it. This is especially recommended in apps you use multiple times a day, see the messaging or some social network. Precisely the latter are the ones that consume the most when they are opened for the first time, so they are the ones that you should keep open. Now, apps that you use very sporadically and that you rarely use more than once a day, you can close them because it won’t matter how long it takes to load when you reopen them and, incidentally, you will also avoid that consumption of RAM while being in background.
