The Spanish technology company RepScan arrives in the United States with its false news removal service

Inaccurate or false information can cause serious problems for the company in question. Being able, even, to trigger an image crisis with the economic and business consequences that this entails. Solutions such as those presented by the Spanish technology company RepScan, helps organizations remove fake news, videos, images and personal information from the internet.

Services specialized in protecting not only companies, but also individuals, who have made this company, with only two years of lifeto be one of the most thriving technology companies today with a presence in some thirty countries and its landing, even, in the US.

RepScan has just inaugurated its offices in the city of Los Angeles after multiplying its benefits by 2.6% in the current year compared to 2021. And with the aim of also offering its services to American companies monitoring of online presence, detection of negative content and elimination of all that information that affects the integrity of the organization.

«Of the thirty countries in which we are present, the United States is the one in which RepScan already has the most clients, after Spain, so the jump to this country, which is also the largest market and where the world leaders are located of innovation makes perfect sense for us”, comments Josep Coll, co-founder and CEO of RepScan.

The truth is that the problem of fake reviews has become a major problem. In fact, according to the consultancy McKinsey&Company, the volume of ratings and online reviews increased between 40% and 80% due to the rise of online commerce since 2020. There are even companies that pay for the writing of said reviews and behind of which there are even multimillion-dollar businesses.

In Spain, the new regulations allow action against companies that falsify their evaluations, forcing them to verify that the reviews are from users who have actually purchased the products. From the Ministry of Consumption, their objective is the publication of false reviews and evaluations or paid by the manufacturer of their products for sale on the internet; the commercialization of a product as identical to another when these are actually different; and the resale of tickets to shows through bots (digital robots) when they prevent consumers from accessing them normally.

Nevertheless, the universality of the network and the existence of countless forums makes it impossible to control everything that is published about a company. “An entire online review buying business has even been created that allows you, for a few tens of dollars, to buy a package of positive reviews for your business or negative ones for the competition,” says Coll.

RepScan uses a SaaS model, Software as a Service, where through a platform, individuals, professionals and companies can contract the RepScan Alert alert service. This notifies them of the appearance of new negative content, being able to indicate from the mobile the content that they wish to eliminate from the Internet, seeing in real time the evolution of said action. In addition, it also offers an emergency service, which covers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, as the first moments are the most important to stop the distribution of negative content on the Internet.

And it is that the direct correlation between online reputation and sales is indisputable. Many companies have seen their sales rise or fall because of those reviews where small changes in star ratings can drive product growth by up to 200%. Another Brightlocal report noted that when making a purchase or visiting a business, 57% of US consumers only use companies that have achieved four or more star ratings. The same study indicated that 82% of consumers have read at least one fake review in the last year on the Internet.
