Netflix acquired the rights to the animated film The Summit of The Gods (Le Sommet Des Dieux), based on the best-selling manga The Summit of the Gods from Jiro Taniguchi And Baku Yumemakura and, now, the film has one exit date.
The release date of La Vetta degli Dei on Netflix
The film premiered in the section Cinema de la Plage at the Cannes Film Festival last July and, now, Netflix is planning a release in selected US theaters on November 24th; followed by screenings in UK cinemas on 26 November and subsequently made available on the streaming service for all its subscribers on November 30.
Patrick Imbert (The Big Bad Fox And Other Tales) directed the film which asks the question: “Were George Mallory and his partner Andrew Irvine the first men to climb Everest on June 8, 1924?”, setting in motion the search for truth.
“The synopsis tells us that only the small Kodak camera that Mallory and Irvine brought with them could reveal the true story. Seventy years after their venture, we meet a young Japanese journalist named Fukamachi in Kathmandu. There, he recognizes the camera in the hands of the mysterious Habu Jôji, an outcast climber who had been believed to be missing for years. Fukamachi thus enters a world of obsessive mountaineers thirsting for impossible conquests on a journey that leads him, step by step, towards the Summit of the Gods ”.
Waiting for the arrival of the film on Netflix, which recently also announced the arrival of numerous original anime, here is the trailer released shortly after the arrival of the work at the Cannes Film Festival:
