A few weeks after the news of the acquisition by Netflix of the rights of The Summit of The Gods (Le Sommet Des Dieux), the animated film based on the best-selling manga The Summit of the Gods from Jiro Taniguchi And Baku Yumemakura, the first trailer of the film has landed online.

The Netflix trailer for The Summit of the Gods

Patrick Imbert (The Big Bad Fox And Other Tales) directed the film which asks the question: “Were George Mallory and his partner Andrew Irvine the first men to climb Everest on June 8, 1924?”, setting in motion the search for truth.

“The synopsis tells us that only the small Kodak camera that Mallory and Irvine brought with them could reveal the true story. Seventy years after their venture, we meet a young Japanese journalist named Fukamachi in Kathmandu. There, he recognizes the camera in the hands of the mysterious Habu Jôji, an outcast climber who had been believed to be missing for years. Fukamachi thus enters a world of obsessive mountaineers thirsting for impossible conquests on a journey that leads him, step by step, towards the Summit of the Gods ”.

The film will arrive exclusively on Netflix on November 30th, after having debuted in the section Cinema de la Plage at the Cannes Film Festival last July.
