The tools to “speed up your PC” do not work: these are the reasons why

The so-called “optimizers” or “speed boosters” for the PC promise to improve and speed up the performance of your PC, getting rid of the “junk” you don’t need and modifying the settings to make everything work better. But from saying to doing, there is a long way, and in the worst case they could even damage your configuration and make the PC stop working. Let’s see why.

5 reasons why this software is not going to speed up your PC

To begin with, you should know that for more than five years Windows has had its own built-in optimizations in the operating system, providing users with those optimization and cleaning tasks that the aforementioned tools promise to do automatically. We are talking about utilities such as Disk Defragmenter, which can optimize the operation of SSDs, including the Registry Editor, performance analysis tools, memory diagnostics, etc. You have a myriad of utilities built into Windows to help you speed up your PC.

However, if these tools that promise to optimize the PC used these tools automatically, there would be no problem… the problem is that most they don’t work at all. In fact, those that optimize your PC by deleting temporary files, invalid registry entries, cookies, fragmented files, etc. They can get you into trouble by deleting things that they shouldn’t and that, after all, are not going to speed up anything at all on the PC.

In fact, the effect can be counterproductive because in addition to damaging something on the computer, they can cause the adverse effect and penalize performance. Many of these free tools are bundled with “hidden” additional software, because they install it almost without us noticing during the first one’s installation. These unwanted programs can slow down your system by running in the background or bombard you with ads in the browser and popup windows on the desk you don’t know where they came from.

The fourth reason not to use this type of tool is because the anti virus (even the one built into Windows) can give false positives. Many PC cleaning tools include an antivirus component that will routinely run the PC (slowing down performance) and detect thousands of files as false positives (because they are not real antivirus at all). Deleting these files can easily lead to essential PC functions not working as they should.

Additionally, many of these tools often contain malware, and you know what that can do to your PC and files. We have told you many times, but we will repeat it again: if you have a little care and “head” when using the PC and, above all, browsing the Internet and downloading files, with Windows Defender you have more than plenty to keep your PC protected.

The fifth reason is that, by now you’ve figured it out, most of these tools are just scams. They promise to speed up your PC and improve its performance when in reality what they are looking for is to install secondary software that shows you advertising, and also their performance usually damages the PC and hinders its performance (proof of this is that many of these tools are recognized as viruses by many Antiviruses (of the real ones)).

In short, don’t believe everything they tell you: there are no miraculous tools that will improve PC performance with a single click, so don’t trust what you see on the Internet, especially if it comes from little-known web pages or of doubtful origin. If you want to optimize PC performance, search for tutorials on reliable and honest web pages and, even if it costs you a little more work, you will be able to speed up your PC and avoid possible problems.
