The winners of the 2023 Golden Globes are…

The 2023 Golden Globes have returned to “normal” after a 2022 edition to forget. And not just because of the COVID pandemic. Hollywood itself punished those considered “Oscar prelude” for their lack of diversity, for accusations of bribery and even harassment. Certainly, these film and series awards and the galas that accompany them they have been losing interestbut the Golden Globes had already crossed the red line, to the point that the winners themselves were ashamed of getting the award.

New life… partially, because there is still a long way to go to overcome 80 years of “tradition” of the Globes, where whoever was not white, American and Anglo-Saxon had it raw. To begin with, the presenter chosen for the gala was the comedian Jerrod Carmichael, the first black in 79 years as he was in charge of remembering without mincing words in his first appearance. «I am here for black, this association did not have a black member until George Floyd died. Suddenly they invite you to be the black face of a white organization, the first in 79 editions”, he said, to immediately try to break with the past and open a new path: “whatever the Golden Globes past, we are here to celebrate an industry that deserves evenings like this one”.

Golden Globes 2023: winners

Coming to content, there have been prizes sung and others less. Among the prominent ones we can mention Steven Spielbergwho won Best Drama and Best Director for his autobiographical film The Fabelmanswhich is heading steadily towards the Oscars.

Golden Globes 2023

cate blanchett was another of the safe bets and won in the category of best dramatic actress for her excellent role in Tar. She lists her as a sure Oscar nominee and with a high chance of winning. And perhaps more awards (deserved) for a film that had many more nominations.

martin mcdonagh was another of the great winners of the gala, winning the awards for best film and best screenplay for Banshees by InisherinWith which Colin Farrel he also won the best comedy actor repeating previous awards such as the Venice Festival or the New York Critics. In the category of best animated film (and as expected) he won the stop motion version of pinocchio of Guillermo del Toro.

the rampant Babylon Damien Chazelle only won Best Original Score although he was aiming for much more, while Austin Butler took Drama Actor for Elvis and Eddie Murphy picked up the Cecil B DeMille Lifetime Achievement Honorary Award. Without Spanish to mention, we can highlight something of our language for Argentina 1985, awarded as best non-English language film. Surprise (very pleasant and deserved) for the work of Santiago Miter on the trials of the Argentine dictatorship.
