On the occasion of the Super Bowl final, Marvel unveils the new trailer for Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness, which allows us to discover a little more about the plot.
After Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel returns with a new adventure in the heart of the multiverse. Common thread of this new phase, the exploration of parallel dimensions will take a new turn, while Stephen Strange must face a new enemy, undoubtedly the most powerful of all. On the occasion of the Super Bowl, the house of ideas has shared a new trailer for Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madnesswhich tells us a bit more about the plot that will unfold in this chapter.
After opening the doors of the multiverse in No Way Home, Doctor Strange must face the consequences of his fate. It seems an alternate version of the Sorcerer Supreme is wreaking havoc, and he’s the only one who can stop it. To do this, he must call on Wanda Maximoff, who became supreme witch after the events of her series on Disney+.
Along the way, he will meet new characters, starting with the one played by Xochitl Gomez. The young actress plays America Chavez, also known as Miss America. In the comics, the teenager was raised by her mothers on the utopian Parallel, a seemingly timeless dimension.
But when it is threatened, it flees to reach Earth 616, the dimension of all the characters we have been following on the big screen for 14 years now. She should be a strong ally to Strange, thanks to her superhuman speed and strength. She can also open portals to other dimensions. We can also see it in these new images. We also see Doctor Strange battling Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor). The latter seems to lead him to a mysterious council, to answer for his actions.
The most attentive will also have noticed the integration of a voice which could be that of Patrick Stewart (Professor Xavier). One can imagine this is how Marvel will integrate the X-Men into its expansive cinematic universe. After the takeover of 20th Century Studios, it was only a matter of time. Especially since one of them has already appeared in Wanda vision, whose plot is closely linked to that of the team’s new film. However, if we have learned one thing from all these years of trailers, it is that Marvel likes to play with images to mislead the public.
Sam Raimi at the helm
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is particularly awaited by the public. Firstly because this is the first time that we will explore new dimensions on the big screen, in No Way Home they are the ones who came to Peter Parker, and also because it is directed by a big name in the superhero genre.
Marvel has indeed recruited Sam Raimi to stage this new adventure. It is to him that we owe the first three Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. He will also find behind the scenes a composer he knows very well. Danny Elfman will indeed score this new part, after having set to music the adventures of Peter Parker in the early 2000s.
See you next May 6 at the cinema to discover Doctor Strange: in the Multiverse of Madness. In the cast, we will find Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen and Benedict Wong in the roles of Doctor Strange, Wanda and Wong. Rachel McAdams will return as Dr. Christine Palmer.
