The Xiaomi 12 will be released on December 28

The European release date has not yet been officially revealed, but it should follow at a relatively short notice.

Xiaomi has just unveiled the release date of its next flagship, the Xiaomi 12. On its Weibo account, the Chinese manufacturer announced that the first models of this range will be released in China on December 28, a year to the day after the Xiaomi Mi 11.

This generation is therefore the very first to be affected by the brand’s new rebranding. Indeed, the Chinese firm has chosen to leave the acronym “Mi” aside. It should include at least 4 devices: the base Xiaomi 12, but also more powerful editions called X, Pro, and Ultra. On the other hand, it is unlikely that all of these devices will be released at the same time on December 28. Xiaomi has not indicated an individual release date for each model. If we look at the calendar of the previous generation, we notice that the Mi 11 Ultra was not announced until March of this year. It is therefore very likely that the Ultra model will not arrive until 2022.

The ultimate SoC, but a disappointing screen?

On the other hand, the brand has already confirmed the SoC model that will power these devices. The basic version as well as the Pro model will be entitled to the new star SoC on the market; they will indeed be equipped with the famous Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. We can expect that this will also be the case for the Ultra version. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi 12X should be offered with the same chip as its predecessor; it will apparently be entitled to the same Snapdragon 870 as the MI 11X.

According to Gadget360, the Xiaomi 12 should be equipped with a three-piece photo block, including a 50 MPx main sensor. The site also specifies that the borders should be curved, which seems anything but obvious on the rendering published by the brand. However, there is still doubt about the screen resolution; some rumors speak of an FHD + resolution, which would be a surprising step backwards compared to the Mi 11.

On the other hand, the rumors around the battery seem much more solid, because they are based on a certification request filed in China. This reports a 5000mAh battery with fast charging at 67W.

We are now awaiting more information from the Chinese manufacturer; see you next December 28 at the latest to know the latest details of the technical sheet as well as the European release date, which should follow in the weeks or months to come.
