Neither the PS5 nor the Xbox Series X or S have had so few units as soon as they hit the market and that they sold like hot cakes. What we are experiencing with the world of GPUs already reaches limits that are not normal, although in this case it was expected given the range of the card and the price, but… What if there was no stock of RTX 3050 until an unspecified date?
Yes, surely many of you will have done a scout about this graphics card in stores and as you will have been able to verify… Tachán! It is an almost impossible task to find a model in our borders (there is no Founders Edition version) and it is that directly in Europe it is very complicated, not to repeat ourselves and say again that it is impossible. Will it reach the European market? Of course, but one thing is to arrive and another to even have the possibility of buying it…
Why is there no RTX 3050 stock?
For many reasons. The first is undoubtedly the current low availability of substrates and various key electronic products for them, mainly because the RTX 3050 has a very curious peculiarity that the most attentive will know: it has only 8 PCIe lanes and therefore it needs a specific PCB for each brand that cannot be shared with the rest of the immediately superior models.
The second reason is the focus of graphics card manufacturers in the market, where Asia and the US are taking all the cake while in Europe we see them coming, in this case, from the monitor.
Last but not least is the price. There is speculation, there will be later and this may not be over until the countries begin to fight mining much harder, whatever the excuse. MSRP is just $249 and while the performance isn’t anything to write home about, it appeals to everyone except…retailers and wholesalers.
Manufacturers are setting prices that are not normal in themselves, since for the same model we can find almost 200 euros of difference with the only exception of the frequency. That is, overclocked models are out of price as they do not meet NVIDIA requirements.
Speculation breaks the GPU ecosystem
We could extend it to every component of a PC, but we will be specific when saying that speculation is a drama today for the user, a problem. Prices of more than 1,200 euros are being seen for a card that costs, at most and with taxes, 300 euros.
This fact added to the nullity of existing stock allows us to glimpse that mining has a lot to do with this once again. Have really counted models arrived in Europe? Hard to believe being the most affordable card for the public.
And it is that there are stores that do not even have them listed, which already shows that they have no faith that they will arrive at their stores soon. Even in the US they are having supply problems and many prices are skyrocketing with some custom RTX 3050 in stock. This may be one of those cards that, not being the panacea, pass without pain or glory.
