These Dark Matters 3: Filming for the last season officially ends

Filming of These Dark Matters 3 (His Dark Materials), the third and final season of the series based on the novels of Philip Pullmann.

Beginning in June, filming for the third season took place mostly in Wales (as it did for the previous two seasons) and, now, the show’s Twitter account has confirmed that it has come to an end.

A tweet announces the end of filming for These Dark Materials 3

Here is the tweet:

It has been an incredible six-year journey through the worlds of These Dark Matters, but the time has come to close the doors on the final chapter.

We’ve wrapped filming for Season 3.

At the end of the second season we had seen Lord Asriel (James McAvoy) calling the angels to help him declare war on the Kingdom of Heaven, while Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson) kidnapped her daughter Lyra to bring her back to safety in their world. Season 3 begins with Lyra unconscious from a drug her mother gave her, while Will, who still carries the Subtle Blade, continues his journey in search of the child. Will is chased by two angels – Balthamos and Baruch – who want to convince him to join Lord Asriel’s campaign against The Authority with Commander Ogunwe (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). But Will isn’t the only one looking for Lyra: Father President MacPhail (Will Keen) continues his mission to destroy the daughter of prophecy aided by his most devoted follower, Father Gomez (Jamie Ward).

Meanwhile, Oxford physics Mary Malone (Simone Kirby) reaches another parallel world, the one inhabited by the Mulefa, a very strange species of animal that will reveal to the scientist a cataclysmic phenomenon that took place in their world. Featuring numerous new worlds, including the Land of the Dead, characters old and new, and creatures such as the Mulefa and Gallivespians, Season 3 will bring Pullman’s masterpiece to a thrilling conclusion.

There will be eight episodes in total in which the third season of These Dark Materials, adaptation of the third novel of the trilogy, will be divided: The amber telescope.

Now we just have to wait for a release date of These Dark Materials 3.
