They create a roguelike version of Half-Life that is simply brutal

Half-Life Codename: Loop

Since Valve does not bring us the expected Third installment of Half-Life, at least it’s nice to know that the company does not put too many obstacles for users to work on alternative versions of the game and allow them to publish them on Steam. This is what has happened with Codename: Loopa very peculiar version of the game that you will want to try immediately.

A third-person Half-Life

Half-Life Codename: Loop

From the hand of the modder PinkyDev, comes this original version of Half-Life in which we will control Gordon Freeman from an elevated camera with a top view, and where roguelike elements are introduced. The story takes us to an alternate Black Mesa facility, where G-Man has locked up Freeman to see if he is able to escape the constant loop he is locked in and test if he is the right candidate for his plans.

The game has campaigns designed by the users, where we will find moments of stealth, never seen before in the Half-Life saga. The result is a hilarious gameplay that has cost its own, since after more than a year of development the game finally sees the light.

With permission from Valve

Half-Life Codename: Loop

The big news is that Valve has personally named the game, and while it doesn’t bear the Half-Life name implied in the title, the maps and 3D models are original to the game. At the moment the game’s profile on Steam is not yet available, but it will be a matter of a few days until it finally appears in the Valve store.

It was its own creator who asked Valve for permission to publish the title, and they have freely agreed to allow their creator to publish the game freely.

the game has built entirely in Unityand although it is largely based on Half-Life, it also features new models, textures and animations that further complete this adventure in its new third-person perspective.

Where can it be downloaded?

As we said, the official page of the game on Steam is not yet available, so for now the only way to play it is by downloading the free demo that they have posted on ModDB, where you can download the playable demo of Codename: Loop.

This will help you wait for the full game to be released on Steam, something that shouldn’t take too long.
