We’re not done with Renslayer according to actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw. She will be in the cast of season 2 of Loki.
The first season of Loki transported us to a whole new universe, populated by enigmatic characters who have not always been fully exploited. If it was Mobius and Lady Loki who were in the spotlight, other protagonists also stood out, starting with Ravonna Lexu Renslayer, the judge of the Time Variance Authority. However, her role was central, since she was the bridge between the TVA and the Timekeepers. After a fierce fight against Sylvie, the trickery was exposed to the world and she finally decided to leave. “in search of free will”.
If we could imagine that this means that she would distance herself from the series, the actress who plays her has just confirmed that she is back for season 2. Invited on the set of Good Morning America, she explains as follows: “I know there’s a season 2 and I know I’m in. That’s all I can say. I simply like Renslayer. I’m very happy to explore the character a little more. I’m very happy that people are looking forward to the next season.”
A new ally for Loki and Sylvie?
It is difficult to know on which side the character played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw has now sided. Especially since the cards were redistributed at the end of the first season. After the disappearance of the One-Qui-Rest, who was liquidated by Sylvie, Loki returns to TVA but many things have changed. Indeed, Kang The Conqueror or one of his variants seems to have taken control of the organization. Mobius and the other TVA employees also seem to have completely forgotten about Loki’s existence.
The latter will undoubtedly have to convince them to join his fight, to restore the order of things and once again save the universe. As for the first season, we should thus find Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino in the cast. Michael Waldron should once again be writing the screenplay. However, we do not know if Kate Herron will re-enlist. After the broadcast of the grand finale, she had shared her intention to pass the baton to one or another filmmaker, so that the series takes on a new dimension. We will probably have to wait until this summer to find out more.
Filming is expected to resume in Britain later this year. loki season 2 will therefore probably not be available in 2022, but rather in 2023, probably in order to celebrate the second year of existence of the series in June of that same year.
