This is how beautiful the future Windows 12 could be

Windows 12 is on the way and Microsoft itself recently showed at its Ignite conference the first traces of an operating system that is believed to launch a new change (and they are…) in the development cycle of its operating systems, with a return to the schedule of Windows 7 engineering at major releases every three years with the aim of improving the stability of the ecosystem.

The Windows 12 we saw from Microsoft is nothing revolutionary, but it does show UI changes with a new floating taskbar at the bottom, system icons at the top right, a floating search box at the top center and the weather widget in the upper left.

What should Microsoft do to make its next operating system more attractive? Bringing back some of the missing features in Windows 11, finishing implementing the Fluent Design language, and achieving greater cohesion across the visuals would be a start, but there are many other ideas.

Kevin Hall, a designer who has served us concepts for Windows 7 or Windows 11 in the past, now proposes his idea for Windows 12. His creation combines Windows with features of other operating systems, such as the selection of AI images with which users of iPhone will be familiar or even the lock screen with elements of iOS 16.

Kevin describes his creation as the “Most Refined Windows Ever” with highlights such as a renewed Start menu, interactive widgets or a dynamic taskbar. There are also new touch gestures and the “near control” feature that makes it easy to drag and drop content from one compatible device to another (the Surface Duo 2 in the example).

It is not easy to transfer these concepts, images and videos to a real program, but they are there for inspiration. You like? What would you add or change in Windows 12 to achieve the perfect system at least in the visual section?
