This is the Windows 11 we want: a perfect Windows 7 remaster

Soon, Windows 11 will be one year old. Since its launch, to date only 2 out of 10 users have upgraded to this operating system. And it is that, in addition to the hard requirements that not everyone meets, the aesthetic change of this new Windows compared to previous versions means that many prefer to stay behind, in Windows 10, instead of taking a step towards it. future. Changes, in general, do not like people. And this is the reason why there are still those who imagine what Windows 7 should look like in 2022. And, honestly, it’s just what we all want.

For many, Windows 7 is still, along with XP, one of the best operating systems released by Microsoft. Unfortunately, no system lasts forever, and both XP and 7 have passed away, the former going out of support entirely, the latter exhausting its last few months of extended paid enterprise support. The future, whether we like it or not, is Windows 11, since even Windows 10 has its months numbered.

But even if Microsoft doesn’t want to give us the system we all want, that doesn’t mean we can’t dream.

Before continuing to explain what this system would look like, we want to make it clear that it is a concept. This means that it is not a real operating system. Nor is it a theme or “mod” that we can install on our original Windows 11. There is nothing that we can download, it is just a video that seeks to bring us a bit of nostalgia and sadness for what Windows 7 could have been and was not.

A Windows 7 fit for 2022

The new Windows 7 2022 Edition is a concept created by the designer Addy Visuals in which he imagines what the operating system might have looked like had it been released today instead of 14 years ago. The first thing that catches our eye is the desktop background, a mix of the original Windows 7 background along with a modern system logo with rounded corners.

Of course we would have a taskbara mix of the classic 7 and the new Windows 10. And, as expected, we would have a classic start menu that, although modernized, still maintains the aesthetics of the original start, one of the features that users miss the most. users.

The file explorer would also have been more modern, showing updated icons, a modern color theme, and, in addition, the tabs at the top in true Windows 11 style.

This new operating system would have the functions and features that were introduced to users with Windows 10, such as the virtual desktopsand a control center much more complete and useful to control all aspects of the system, as well as centralized OS notifications. Another of the functions that attract our attention the most, and that we still do not understand why it is not part of the operating system, are the dynamic backgroundsa feature of macOS that allows us to change the background automatically based on the time.
