This Succession actor is tired of telling fans to fuck off

Brian Cox remembers every day the nice screenwriter who gave him his mythical phrase in Succession. The actor who plays the patriarch in the series is in his best moment, because after more than 6 decades, the Scotsman has achieved fame now that he already has the imserso card. But as he has stated, he’s already a little tired of having to tell everyone he meets on the street to go to hell.

Brian Cox doesn’t want to tell you to fuck off.

The fame it can become a double-edged sword. And although better late than never, the Scotsman who plays Logan Roy in the HBO series admits that he is starting to get tired of his famous tagline. Their mythical «Fuck off» already takes away his sleepand the actor has exploded, asking please not to force him to repeat his phrase when they stop him on the street to take a picture.

And it is that, although at first it was funny, the thing has gotten out of hand. The first time he was asked to tell someone to go to hell was outside the theater where he was working. A group of fans pointed a mobile phone at him and asked him to say the above phrase. He, a little dizzy from that situation, did it. It would soon become his worst nightmare. Now, every time he steps out on the street, people chase him with their mobile phones so they can upload a nice Reel or TikTok.

It’s a matter of respect (and not being canceled)

According to the actor himself, the most uncomfortable moment he has experienced with this phenomenon was in the Ronan Farrow book launchduring the movement #MeToo. The actor said in an interview that it was a very emotional moment in which many were supporting his companions as activists. Suddenly, between emotions and tears, someone interrupted this nice old man, scolding him to send him to hell.

«Who thinks it normal to ask me to send him for a walk in a meeting that advocates respect for people? Has the world gone mad!? What if I get canceled for that!?».

And it is that, like any good old man, Brian Cox is confused and respected at the same time by the cancel culture. During another interview on the Piers Morgan show—a rather controversial presenter, by the way—the actor commented that the culture of cancellation was very hypocritical in itself:

«I’m not religious, but as the Bible says, ‘he who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.’ And here are people stoning very lightly».

What Cox makes clear to us is that he is not like his character, because he is even shy about sending someone to hell, even if it is a joke. Someone who cares so much about forms and education is unlikely to issue public statements of hatred towards any group, no matter how conservative it may be.
