Windows 10 It has already started its final stretch. In two years, Microsoft plans to completely abandon this operating system, leaving millions of users abandoned and focusing its development on Windows 11 and what is probably its successor: Windows 12. Thus, little by little the different versions of Windows 10, which until now coexisted, is reaching the end of its life cycle. And, today, the end of one of the most popular versions has come, the 21H2.
Windows 10 21H2 It reached all users in November 2021. This was the first version that arrived after the launch of Windows 11, and therefore it was marked as one of the favorites of all those users who were not convinced by the new operating system or They just couldn’t update because of the requirements.
Unfortunately, as usual, no version of Windows is supported indefinitely, and we all knew that sooner or later this version, like all the previous ones, was going to come to an end. Well, finally, this end has come. And it is that, just like last month happened with Windows 10 20H2, from today, if you use the editions home either Pro, or the professionals Pro Education or Pro for Workstation, your Windows 10 21H2 will not receive support or further updates. And that is a danger.
Check the version of Windows 10 you’re using
Although if you have automatic Windows updates activated you should be using the latest version of this operating system (22H2), it is possible that, for various reasons, your computer is not up to date. In that case, what you have to do is run the winver command to check the version of the operating system you have installed on your PC. You can write this command in the start menu search engine, or in the run window (Windows + R keyboard shortcut), and look at the “About Windows” window that appears in the version you have installed.
You can also check it from the Windows 10 Settings menu, in the “System> About” section. Likewise, you have to look at the “Version” section, within the Windows specifications.
If this version corresponds to 22H2, then you don’t have to worry (for now), as you will continue to receive updates, patches and support. However, if the 21H2 version appears marked, as in the previous image, or any previous version, then you have a serious problem.
Update NOW
If you are using an outdated version of Windows 10, and it will no longer be supported, you should update your computer now. Otherwise, since you will not receive any more security patches or any type of support or maintenance, any error or vulnerability that appears will leave your computer exposed and in danger.
Therefore, what you should do is install the latest version of Windows 10 on your PC, so that, at least, you ensure support and updates until 2025, when, finally, this operating system passes away. The latest version of Windows 10 arrives through Windows Update, like one more patch and, of course, it’s completely free.
