TikTok also jumped on the chatbot bandwagonand is already testing yours own. Is called Taco, and its mission is to recommend videos based on requests about what you want to see from users of the social network. For now there are not many more details about what this chatbot could do if it is finally integrated into TikTok, apart from what can be seen in some screenshots that have been accessed from The Verge.
In them you can see that Tako would appear above the TikTok profile icon, to the right of a video. By tapping on the icon, what appears changes to give way to a chat screen, where the bot appears that can answer a wide variety of questions. For now it is not known what Artificial Intelligence model Tako is using.
If finally, those responsible for TikTok decide to integrate the chatbot into the social network, it could radically change the way in which users browse the application and search in it. Tako will show suggestions to start a conversation with the bot, so that they can ask the chatbot to show them videos on a certain topic that they want to watch.
According to a company spokesperson, Zachary Kizer, the chatbot is about “a limited scope experiment“, and for now it is not available for network users in North America or Europe. The test, in fact, is being carried out only with users from the Philippines, and with a reduced number of employees. In any case, it is only being tested with people over 18 years of age.
While the company decides whether to expand or not, they have also indicated that «In specific markets, we’re testing new ways to jumpstart search and discovery on TikTok, and we look forward to learning from our communication as we continue to create a safe place to entertain, inspire creativity, and fuel culture.«.
