Although the future of TikTok is very dark in the United States, with the ever-increasing threat of a ban decreed by the White House, the social network continues despite everything to improve its formula.

After the new parameters intended to restrict the time of use of children, the application is equipped this Thursday, March 16, 2023 with a new tool: the ability to “restart” your “For You” feed.

The principle is simple. With this optionusers can now refresh their “For You” feed where they can find videos recommended by the app’s algorithms.

It must be said that over time, our tastes and interests can change. An example, if you were a fan of Jenna Ortega’s famous choreography in Wednesday when the series was released, you may be tired today of seeing your thread full of dancers (more or less) talented swaying on the Cramps’ Goo Goo Muck.

By enabling this feature, your thread “For You” therefore starts from scratch, as if you had just signed up for TikTok. Please note that this will not override your already chosen settings and will not affect followed accounts. In other words, you’re just telling the app’s recommendation algorithms to start fresh.

How to activate the new option on TikTok

To access it, you will have to go to the Settings of the app. Then click on your Content Preferencest select the option “Refresh your feed For You“. All you have to do is click on the button Refresh to start the process. TikTok warns you one last time that the operation is irrevocable.

As TikTok points out, this tool comes in addition to a plethora of content control options already available to the community, such as the ability to filter videos that use specific hashtags or terms. Users can also show their disinterest in a content creator’s videos, to avoid finding them in their “For You” feed.
