Tom Cruise’s film in the ISS becomes clearer

The film starring Tom Cruise on board the ISS should be shot by the end of 2024.

A few months after the shooting of the very first film made in space, the International Space Station will be entitled to a new flight in the world of cinema. This time, it is the American star Tom Cruise who will play the game, with a film made – in part – within the ISS. For the occasion, the actor will even be entitled to his own module, called SEE_1, and which is already planning to moor at the station at the start of the 2024 school year. An original but not new inflatable module, which should subsequently allow ‘to host film shoots, but also concerts, shows, and even sports competitions, reports Variety.

The synopsis becomes clearer

Still very mysterious, this new feature film featuring Tom Cruise in space – the real one – will obviously not be shot entirely on the ISS. Accompanied by the only director Doug Liman, the actor’s orbit trip should be relatively short, the majority of the feature film being planned on Earth. However, some illustrative images may be shot from a rocket, in order to avoid using CGI as much as possible.

Regarding the synopsis of the story, we don’t have anything very precise yet. Still according to information from variety, it won’t be a sci-fi movie as one might expect, but rather a action-adventure, in which Tom Cruise plays the role of an ordinary and fundamentally unlucky man. By a combination of circumstances that we guess incredible, the character will finally find himself sent into orbit to save the blue planet from certain death.

Mission impossible for Tom Cruise?

Validated by NASA, the idea of putting Tom Cruise into orbit will be an unprecedented adventure for the actor, who is used to impossible missions. According to Universal, filming should begin shortly after the end of mission impossible 8, which is scheduled to kick off in a few weeks in South Africa, under the direction of Christopher McQuarrie.
