Tomb Raider: Alicia Vikander updates fans on the status of the new film

The Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander wanted to update fans of tomb Raider on the progress of the new film, after last year he had left everyone in suspense when he declared that he “hoped to be able to start work” later this year.

In a recent interview with Collider (where the initial topic was actually the David Lowery, The Green Knight), Vikander discussed how the situation hasn’t really changed much.

Pre-COVID, I would have said yes. And now I think it’s still a yes. There is no green light, but the script is in the making. And I think everyone is excited about the idea, and I would love to be back as Lara again ”.

Will the second Tomb Raider movie starring Alicia Vikander be made?

The film has undergone some changes as the director, Ben Wheatley, was the original choice to direct the second Tomb Raider, however, in January 2021, Lovecraft Country showrunner Misha Green took over from Wheatley and is currently working on a new version of the script. “It’s really time since the world is up and running again, and Misha is on board, and she’s working on the script right now. So I’m thrilled to be able to do something very soon. “

This will be the second time Tomb Raider returns (for the second time) to the big screen. Angelina Jolie she held the role of Lara Croft from 2001 to 2003 with films tomb Raider and the sequel Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life; and since Tomb Raider video games have seen a reboot in recent years, Vikander’s film is also much closer to the most recent version of Lara Croft’s character and her archaeological travels.

And it’s actually a bit surprising that the second film is still in the works, considering that the 2018 film didn’t receive particularly positive reviews and its box office revenue was pretty low.
