Trump Clan Discovers Cryptocurrency, Announces Lawsuits

The Trump clan discovered the existence of TrumpCoin, a cryptocurrency that has nothing to do with the former US president, six years after its creation. His son Eric Trump threatens to take legal action.

Created in 2016 to support Donald Trump in the US presidential election, TrumpCoin had never caught the attention of the former US President. His son Eric Trump is now informed of the existence of this cryptocurrency and the least we can say is that he is not in tune with the project. On the social network Twitter, he reminded that this digital currency has nothing to do with his family and believes that its creators are crooks.

“Fraud Alert: It has come to our attention that someone is promoting a cryptocurrency called ‘TrumpCoin’ (Symbol ‘TRUMP’)”said the son of the former president. “It has NOTHING to do with our family, we do not authorize this use and we are in no way affiliated with this group”. And Eric Trump to add: “Legal proceedings will be initiated”.

Six years later, Eric Trump discovers TrumpCoin

Similar to a memecoin, TrumpCoin lived a rather peaceful existence before incurring the wrath of the ex-president’s family. Launched in February 2016, the cryptocurrency backs supporters of Donald Trump and was quick to respond to attacks from Eric Trump. In a statement, TrumpCoin officials claim to be in “direct communication” with Donald Trump’s son for ” to clarify “ the situation. They confirm in passing that it is not a fraud and recall that they never claimed that TrumpCoin was linked to Donald Trump.

The Vice site spotted that the Telegram channel had seen an influx of new members following the media coverage of the case. The group also posted a screenshot showing a direct message Eric Trump sent them. The latter was then trying to get in touch with one of the TrumpCoin officials and did not seem to have appreciated that his private message became public. “He hasn’t responded since the screenshot was posted, maybe he didn’t like it too much”explained the creators of the cryptocurrency.

Donald Trump is “not a fan” of cryptocurrencies

Very active on social networks until the suspension of his accounts, Donald Trump never really appreciated cryptocurrencies. “I am not a fan of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, which are not money and whose value is very volatile and based on wind. Unregulated crypto-assets can facilitate illicit behavior, including the drug trade and other illegal activities…..” explained the former president on Twitter in July 2019. He took the opportunity to recall: “We only have one real currency in the United States, and it is stronger than ever, both reliable and secure (…) It’s called the United States dollar! ».
